This February, The International Weird Collage Show is celebrating their 14th edition by presenting an exhibition in London for the first time. Presented by The Weird Show (TWS), this exhibition focuses on contemporary collage art. Since it was established in 2010 by Max-o-matic and Rubén B, successful shows have been presented in Barcelona, Berlin, Rotterdam, New York, Montreal, Lima, and San José de Costa Rica to name a few.
According to The Weird Show’s website, the mission of TWS is “a way of expressing ideas, feelings, and stories;” they seek to expand the boundaries, not looking for “stale perfection” but rather freshness, inspiration, and reinvention.
A featured artist this year is Sergei Sviatchenko, born in Ukraine and now working in Denmark. An artist of many disciplines, he works with photography and fashion in addition to collages. In 2002, he founded Senko Studio in Denmark, a nonprofit space to curate shows by emerging artists.
