WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
More than 300 people stopped by the New Hanover County Arboretum Saturday afternoon to enjoy flower art created by Ikebana Wilmington International and the Cape Fear Bonsai Society.
About 60 flower arrangements and Bonsai trees were on display.
“The event today is to bring to the public the beautiful art of Japanese flower arranging,” said Maria E. Williams, the local Ikebana president.

“It feels wonderful in that I can say, ‘Wow, I did this,’ and while I was doing it, I’m also feeling very relaxed and much better, my life becomes better,” said Williams.
A demonstration also showed attendees how they can practice flower art at home.
“It’s nature and man coming together because the person interested in it, and the creator of the designs, really look into nature to find their materials, and to bring a spiritual knowledge,” said Williams.
